Cas has loved logging all his life and has worked his summers driving a skidder for L&S Logging since he was 12. After high school, we encouraged him to, at least, give college a try. That lasted ONE semester and he decided it wasn’t for him. He wanted to LOG! He has worked for us full-time since he was 19. Cas originally ran the skidder and graduated to running the cutter full-time and can run the loader as well, when his dad (Larry) is out. He has his CDL, which allows him to haul wood and move equipment for us when needed also. Cas can cut it, skid it, load it, and haul it! And sometimes does it all in the same day!
Cas met Sara in October 2020, and they have dated since that time. Sara, from Seminary, MS, is a registered nurse in the NICU at the University Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Her parents are David and Shannon Autlman of Seminary, MS.
Cas was asked to run the skidder for B & G Equipment (Philadelphia, MS) in the demonstration held at the Mid-South Forestry Expo held Saturday, September 18, 2021, in Starkville, MS. He decided this was the time! He asked his dad and I to bring the ring (which he purchased back in July and Sara did not know!) and he was gonna do it. And he did! The rest is in the pictures! Oh, and she said YES! Sara was definitely taken by surprise. She had NO IDEA! Her first Mid-South Forestry Expo will forever more be a memory she will never forget!
